Hey guys! I love shopping small and supporting family businesses and I know so many of you do too so I decided to round up a couple of my favorites! Some of these are services that you may or may not have heard of (or maybe you’ve heard of them and have been curious but never wanted to ask questions about them) that I'm excited to share with you. Let me know if you have any further questions!
I met with Stacey recently for an Express Dermaplane Facial. I had heard about this procedure previously but didn't quite know what it entailed and was so excited to try it out and learn more. Stacey works in a lovely, peaceful studio in Bellingham, WA and provides multiple skincare services. She is very friendly, skilled and knowledgeable, as well as certified through DermaplanePro. It was a very relaxing procedure that took about 45 minutes.
If you aren't familiar with the process, dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation of the skin using a surgical steel blade. Once the skin is prepped, the esthetician holds the skin taut while holding the blade at a 45 degree angle. This process removes 2 to 3 weeks of dead skin, softens fine lines/wrinkles, allows products to penetrate deeper, improves acne scarring, and the added bonus of removing the pesky peach fuzz (vellus hair). You're left with smooth, glowing skin! And no, the peach fuzz does not grow back thicker, or black. The results last 3 to 4 weeks, thus allowing the skin to complete it's normal skin cycle. There is no downtime, and the results are immediate! And the best part? It's totally safe to go back monthly to keep your skin looking it's best! I am absolutely loving my results. My skin looks brighter and my makeup glides on much smoother.
The treatment starts with a double cleanse, toner, dermaplane, enzyme mask, serum, eye cream, moisturizer and SPF. All products are customized for the client's skin type. This treatment is not for all clients unfortunately. Clients with active acne outbreaks or cold sores should not be treated until lesions are healed. Dermaplaning is great for diminishing acne scars but should not be performed during active outbreaks. Clients with bleeding disorders or difficulty clotting should not be treated. Clients with diabetes not under control by diet or medication should not be treated. Clients undergoing cancer treatment should also not be treated.

Aubrie Hagen - Sirene Studio
I was lucky enough to have Aubrie apply eyelash extensions on me this week and in short: they are amazing!! My natural lashes are very short and the extensions look amazing and so natural! She works out of the cutest little studio in Bellingham, WA and it is such a relaxing atmosphere. As a busy mom and business owner I rarely get to sit still for that long so so that in itself was such a treat. Then getting fabulous lashes too: absolutely amazing!
One thing I learned is that it is so important to have extensions applied correctly as to not damage your natural lashes. When applied properly it does not hurt your natural lashes at all. The extensions last 2-3 weeks at which point you have the option to fill them if you'd like to continue with them. The initial application is 2 to 2.5 hours and a fill is 1 to 1.5 hours.
Aubrie is so sweet and knowledgeable; she even provided me with a goodie bag of instructions and tools to help me care for my lash extensions! I highly recommend her!
Elizabeth Hayes - Salon Tryst
I have seen Elizabeth in the past for multiple fabulous services, including a lash lift and tint, but most recently I saw her for a Signature Custom Facial! This is a double mask, scalp & facial massage facial with products specifically chosen to address your skin concerns. She did a cherry enzyme to clear out any dead skin and gunk from my pores, then followed with a charcoal refining mask. There were also amazing hand, scalp and neck massages mixed in as we waited for the masks to process. Such a relaxing experience and my skin feels and looks much better! She has now started selling products that she uses and recommends to clients as well. If you send her your skincare routine she goes through it and looks up ingredients in each item to see if your routine is lacking anything or if you are using something that doesn’t agree with your skin type. She sent me home with an aloe moisturizer and a cucumber hydrating toner that I’m so excited to start using!
Sarah DeGroot - BeautyCounter
Sarah sells a wide variety of beauty and skincare products through BeautyCounter. I have tried and loved a handful of BeautyCounter's products in the past but have just starting using the Resurfacing Peel through her recommendation. It is recommended to apply a pump or two to a clean face 3-4 times per week to improve skins texture, minimize pores, fine lines and dark spots, all without drying out your skin! Who doesn't want that? My skin in notoriously dry, especially as we get into winter, and I have already noticed a difference after using this a handful of times! I am a big fan already.
Krista Brisky - DoTerra
I have recently started using the Breathe roller ball by DoTerra by recommendation of Krista and love it! I have been applying it to my chest, wrists and ankles and enjoy it's refreshing peppermint scent! The Breathe blend helps encourage clear airways and restful sleep, two things I certainly could use some help with this time of year! This is the perfect gift or stocking stuffer for the person that has it all; I love practical gifts!
Tara Bishop - Healthy Living/Arbonne
Tara is a plethora of knowledge when it comes to healthy living both physically and mentally. She is a great listener and truly cares about those she comes in contact with. I love following along with her healthy living journey, and I have even joined in! I am so grateful that I was introduced to the Arbonne products by her but even more blessed to have her as a resource! Whether you follow the Arbonne plans or not she is a great, helpful resource to follow. She has been very open about her struggles and successes and is a great person to reach out to if you have or are currently struggling with postpartum depression as well.
Randi - Where the Wildflowers Grow
Randi recently sent me the most adorable hat from her shop and her passion for crafting shines through in her work! I love the cute, sparkly jewel and bead details on this one but she has so many other fun options available too. Her shop is not just hats but also sashes and headbands making it a great place to shop for girls/women of all ages. Great gift ideas!
Kiah Maylynn - Kiwi and Hope
I recently tried Kiah's hats and earwarmers for the first time and I am in love! She does amazing work and does not use wool, making her products extra soft and cozy. They are incredibly warm, perfect for the fall and winter months, and I love that they are machine washable! The earwarmer I chose has the cutest button detail giving it that extra fun touch. She has so many cute style and color options available, you're sure to find one you love. I love how the hat I received from her has just the perfect amount of slouch to it. Another great gift idea!
Bailey and Madison - Purple Rose Bows
Purple Rose Bows is founded by two sweet sisters and it is the most adorable bow subscription service (you can read more about that in my Kid's Edition blog post). They have just released scrunchies for little girls and adults too! They are so cute and I quickly became a huge fan. I love how they have added bow scrunchies to the mix as well for that extra fun touch. I have also recently started snagging my daughter's bows from them and wearing them in my hair too; who says you have to stop wearing bows as you get older? Not me!
Kenna - Kenna’s Hair Kreations
I met Kenna for the first time a few weeks ago when she styled my hair for a photo shoot and she is just the sweetest! I adored the casual, loose, braid styles I had seen on her Instagram page so that is what she did and I absolutely loved the results! My hair withstood the effects of the wind during our outdoor photoshoot while still looking soft and voluminous. My hair generally holds curls pretty well but it held even better than usual this time-I think I rocked those curls for three days and you would've never guessed it; that's a big win in my book!
Leah Kooistra - Hair
Leah recently let me (well my hair ;-) ) model for one of her Holiday Hair Series Tutorials and it was so fun! She started by creating loose waves with a flat iron, alternating curl direction (except curled all pieces closest to my face away from my face) then pulling my hair half up. She had the cutest idea to add a scrunchie to my hair and used a small clip in the center of my pony to create extra volume-genius!! It was such a fun everyday style that I can see myself creating over and over again. Be sure to check out her other styles from her Holiday Hair Series too!
Kay Meyer - Wreath
Words cannot describe how in love I am with this wreath. When Kay showed me a photo and asked what I thought of a design like this I instantly fell in love! It is absolutely stunning; even more so in person. I love the magnolia leaves and how this wreath works well throughout the seasons yet gives off a warm, Christmas-y vibe too. I have always admired Kay's work. She has such an eye for detail and I have truly enjoyed following along to see what she comes up with next! Lately she has been decorating homes and businesses for the holidays and each one is gorgeous yet totally different than the next. Be sure to check her out! If you have a wedding coming up-she's your girl!
Ashley Bajema - Scentsy
I recently started using Scentsy products after testing them out at an event with Ashley and instantly became hooked! I love the selection of scent options and adore smelling them as I walk through my home. The scents are so good but I have to admit the adorable warmers might be my favorite! I love the glow they add to my home, creating such an inviting atmosphere. I've had my eye on this Champagne Warmer I recently received from Ashley for quite a while and it does not disappoint! The way the light reflects off of it is stunning. Ashley is so helpful at suggesting scents and with ordering; I recommend having a chat with her to find what is best for you, your family and the style of your home!
Kayla - Senegence
I have tried a handful of Senegence products (love their Lipsense) in the past and have always been a fan so I was so excited when Kayla recommended I try their new VolumeIntense Mascara. I love the immediate length and volume it gives my lashes. With continued use it helps densify and thicken lashes so I am so excited to see how it transforms my lashes over time!
Ashlee - Something You Wood Love
I am in love with my new wine tumbler from Ashlee! She has the cutest designs and can make custom designs as well. I have had her make other cups both for myself and for me to give as gifts and they have all been so cute! Her tumblers keep drinks hot/cold for hours and I love how they come with a lid and a straw! She also makes signs, ornaments and wood transfers; be sure to check out her shop!
Ellie Schmidt - Blush Blossoms Floral
Ellie recently made the most stunning bouquet for one of my photo shoots. It was filled with a mix of traditional and seasonal pieces that were arranged beautifully. It was used all day for the shoot then went on to be a beautiful arrangement on my counter and continued to dry beautifully. She is so sweet and easy to work with, I highly recommend her!
